Considering the Assassin’s Creed movie last year filled the void of no game releasing, it only makes sense that Assassin’s Creed Origins would reference it. This is reflected in emails between protagonist Layla Hassan and Sofia Rikkin where the former is actually advising the latter on how to build the Animus in the film.
