No relation to the Defense of the Ancients we assume.

A new gameplay trailer for Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins has been released and it provides a look at the main antagonists of the game. No, it’s not the Templars.

Rather, hero Bayek will be battling against The Order of the Ancients, a shadowy organization possessing mysterious powers and who control the Pharaoh of Egypt from the shadows. They don’t control Cleopatra however and it’s up to Bayek to help her stop them.

The gameplay trailer showcases all manner of epic situations that we’ve come to expect from Assassin’s Creed including huge battles between armies, ships colliding, villages burning to the ground, a coliseum where Bayek can seemingly battle in and much more.

It certainly makes us even more interested in the story and how the eventual Assassins and Templars come to be formed if nothing else. Assassin’s Creed Origins is out on October 27th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
