The Hook blade was intended to be an upgrade for the left Hidden Blade
Assassins Creed revelations was an excellent game but I loved the story more than the gameplay as it finally concluded the story of Ezio. Originally the hook blade was supposed to be an upgrade for the hidden left blade. However upon further discussion the developers finally decided to remove the left hidden blade completely and replace it with the hook blade which had its own combos and moves.
