Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition PS3 port was in the works, got scrapped

Pity.

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition recently got released for the PC, and it was a great game too, seeing as the game it is a remake of was an excellent game to begin with. Surprisingly enough, developers Overhaul Games were, at one point, also considering bringing the game to the PS3 as well.

Unfortunately though, the user interface and the all over structure of the game proved to be too complex for a console, and Overhaul, who were in talks with Sony, decided to scrap the project.

Trent Oster, who worked on Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition as a Creative Director, said on his Twitter account: “We talked with Sony about #BGEE for #PS3. In the end, the rework to keep the fun and fix the control / UI for console was just too much.”

Well, seeing as games like Dragon Age: Origins have seen the light of the day on the PS3 and the Xbox 360, I’m sure they could have done something about it, but it’s a pity that console audiences can’t play Baldur’s Gate, because it sure is one hell of a game.
