While the beta for Battlefield 6 raised some questions about whether or not the player counts for matches were being inflated by the game making use of AI-controlled characters, EA has offered some clarification on the subject. In a post on social media, EA has confirmed that AI-controlled soldiers are only used in the Training Grounds playlists in the open beta.

Training Grounds is a playlist that was created to help introduce new players to core gameplay in Battlefield 6. As such, the playlist serves as a tutorial. The upcoming beta, starting on August 14, will have Breakthrough Initiation as its Training Grounds playlist. The playlist will feature the Breakthrough game mode for 16 players, alongside AI soldiers that will fill up the match.

As for players that might want to check out the Breakthrough game mode without AI soldiers, a playlist for the mode is available in the Featured playlists row. It is also worth noting that Training Grounds playlists are only available for a player until they hit rank 15, after which the playlists disappear from the menu.

Battlefield 6 had kicked off the first of its betas just last week, and quickly proved itself to be incredibly popular. On PC alone, the Steam version of the game had more than 521,000 concurrent players at its peak. EA also went as far as confirming that this was the biggest open beta that the Battlefield franchise had ever seen.

With the success of the beta already quite evident, former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has also expressed his belief that Battlefield 6 is poised to take the throne from Activision’s Call of Duty release this year. However, he also expressed excitement at the thought of Call of Duty being forced to innovate thanks to competition from Battlefield 6.

Battlefield will boot stomp Call of Duty this year,” said Ybarra on Twitter. “But the real win here is Call of Duty won’t be lazy anymore, and we’ll all get better FPS games for it.”

As is usually the nature of games getting big quickly, players have also started discovering new features by digging around its menus. One such feature is the new Flick Look option, which allows players to turn 180 degrees instantly at the press of a button.

With all of these players, the Javelin Anti-Cheat system used by the multiplayer shooter also got its chance to shine, with EA having confirmed that it had blocked 330,000 attempts at cheating during the beta alone. In its post celebrating the anticheat system, EA had also given more clarification on why Battlefield 6 needs Secure Boot to be enabled for PC players.

“On Secure Boot, I want to be clear that Secure Boot is not, and was not intended to be a silver bullet,” reads the post. “Secure Boot is how you’re helping us build up our arsenal. It’s another barrier that helps us make it harder for cheat developers to create cheat programs, and makes it easier for us to detect it when they do.”

Battlefield 6 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10. Check out our coverage of its multiplayer reveal event for more details about the game.
