During the recent Xbox Developer_Direct 2026, Game Freak has revealed more details about its upcoming title Beast of Reincarnation. Along with providing details on general gameplay, we also get to see the title in action, including its combat system and how protagonist Emma will interact with the world around her as she travels alongside her wolf companion, named Koo.

The central motif of Beast of Reincarnation will be plants. This is on full display with the world having been ravaged by a parasitic species of plant, known as the Blight, as well as Emma’s own connection to plants that seem to be more benevolent. The main enemies that Emma and Koo will have to face off together are creatures that have been taken over by the aforementioned parasitic plants, which in turn has also seemingly turned up their aggression while also giving them new and dangerous abilities. Alongside corrupted animals, players will also get to face mechanical enemies known as Golems, whose souls have been described as having deteriorated.

Owing to her connection with the Blight, Emma also has access to a number of special abilities that can be used in combat. Among the examples showcased was Emma summoning a spider lily above her that she can grapple on to and pull off a follow-up aerial attack.

The story of Beast of Reincarnation will take place in the year 4062 AD. While Emma was born with her connection to the Blight, her wolf companion Koo is a Blight-afflicted creature known as a Malefact. This, coupled with the fact Emma works as a Sealer responsible for hunting Malefacts down, ends up with a unique relationship between the two.

Beast of Reincarnation is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in Summer 2026. It will also be available on Game Pass from day one of its release.
