THE PATHLESS

the pathless

The Pathless’ world impresses in the regular ways you’d expect it to- it’s quite big, there’s a decent variety of environments, and it looks gorgeous, while an excellent and fast-paced traversal system makes navigating the world consistently delightful. What elevates this world to a level above most others, however, is the fact that with no maps or markers or pointers to rely on, you’re grounded in it completely. Exploration actually feels like, well, exploration, instead of the mindless “follow the marker” loop that open world games so often lean on. Without the shadow of a doubt, The Pathless is perhaps one of the most unique and most interesting open world games we’ve played this year.
