Biomutant launched earlier this year after years of development and more than a few delays, but though critical reception of the open world action RPG was mixed, it seems it’s done pretty well for itself from a commercial perspective.
In their recent fiscal results report, Embracer Group – parent company of Biomutant publisher THQ Nordic – announced that the game had sold over 1 million copies since launch. Additionally, all the investments made into the game’s development and marketing, as well as the acquisition of developer Experiment 101 by THQ Nordic, were also recouped within a week of the game’s launch. Embracer Group says Biomutant was the biggest driver of revenue for the company during the previous quarter.
Biomutant is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and also playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility. In our review of the game, we awarded it a score of 5/10, saying, “Biomutant works best on paper, but it has too many derivative elements for anything alone to stand out.” You can read our full review of the game through here.
