It’s been a long arduous journey for Crowbar Collective LLC and Black Mesa, a remake of Valve’s classic FPS Half-Life. But amid years of development and several updates including the long-awaited Xen remake, the wait is nearly over. Project lead Adam Engels recently announced that version 1.0 will launch on March 5th.
Engels noted that the game would still be supported post-launch with fixes and other updates. As such, the 1.0 update offers quite a bit for those who have already finished the beta version in early access. Along with overhauling the HECU AI, it also sees soldiers being more intelligent, flanking more often, unleashing suppressing fire and using grenades better.
Several combat spaces have already been redesigned, fixing places where the pacing seemingly slows and fixing these to help keep the action moving. Following the release of Xen, some sections of the Earth section have also been updated to match the same visual standard. Stay tuned for more details on the game’s full release and how it fares compared to early access.
