Blizzard Raises $2.3 Million in Pet Sales, Donates to Hurricane Sandy Victims

Further proof that nobody gives a damn what Sandy thinks.

Say what you will about Blizzard – and hooboy, have people said some nasty (and very true) things about them – but somewhere in the big development studio that Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo built, there is a basic intent to do good despite those times they wind up in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

This goes double when one looks at World of Warcraft players, as it’s just been revealed that Blizzard auctioned off a $10 Cinder Kitten pet for the game and all of the proceeds went to the American Red Cross’s relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Blizzard later said that, “The community embraced this fiery feline in droves, helping out a great cause in the process. Thanks again to everyone who helped make a difference.”

Sure, it might just be a drop in the ocean compared to the real work that needs to be done, but every effort counts. Also: Death to Superstorms everywhere. Somehow.
