It seems Bloober Team, the Polish developer behind the likes of Layers of Fear, Observer, and the upcoming The Medium is involved in acquisition talks. As per stock exchange documents, the studio has entered into a second round of talks with six potential candidates, three of whom are from the United States, two from Poland, and the remaining one from Great Britain.
The documents don’t reflect the exact nature of these talks, so they could be for the sale of Bloober Team itself, or for Bloober acquiring another developer, but the size of the studio, as well as the fact that it is involved in discussions with six candidates, would point to them being up for sale.
It’s worth noting that unconfirmed reports a few months ago suggested that Microsoft were shopping for the acquisition of a studio in Poland, following a string of other studio acquisitions over thee preceding year and a half. Microsoft and Bloober have also enjoyed a strong working relationship, with Blair Witch releasing as an Xbox One console exclusive at launch, and The Medium following suit on the upcoming Xbox Series X.
It remains to be seen whether these discussions bear fruit, and if they do, who Bloober will end up signing their acquisition agreement with- if this is indeed a deal for their acquisition. We will keep you updated as the story develops though, so stay tuned.
