Before it erupted into controversy over terrible performance on PC, Gearbox Entertainment delayed Borderlands 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2 to ensure the “best possible experience for our fans.” It seems that a new release date could be announced soon, with Portuguese retailer GamingReplay listing it for February 27th.

Pre-orders are available, and as with many titles, the Switch 2 version will seemingly ship on a Game Key Card. Further details have yet to be confirmed, though if this is legitimate, you can imagine an official release date announcement in the coming days.

Borderlands 4 is currently available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It takes place on Kairos, ruled by The Timekeeper and his Order. As Vault Hunters, players join the Crimson Resistance and rally the various forces around the planet to overthrow the regime.

While offering the most extensive Skill Trees in the series’ history, Borderlands 4 also packs a seamless interconnected world (with only a few loading screens for separate instances). Despite launching to decent critical acclaim – you can read our review here – sales have seemingly been “a little softer” than Take-Two Interactive would have liked.

Gearbox has released several updates post-launch and even made the first Bounty Pack, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, free for all players. The first paid expansion, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, brings a new Vault Hunter, C4SH, in the first quarter of this year.
