Bungie, best known for its work on the original Halo trilogy and more recently Destiny, has been hiring for an unannounced project for some time now. Details about the game remain scant for now, although a new senior narrative lead has been appointed in the form of Tom Abernathy. who announced that he will be joining the company through a Twitter post.
Abernathy has had previous experience on games like Guild Wars 2, League of Legends, The Saboteur, and many more. It isn’t confirmed whether the unannounced project is something Destiny-related, although Bungie did announce last year that the team was planning to ship a new IP by 2025.
The studio’s next game will most likely be another multiplayer action game with live-service elements and in-game monetization, as per past job listings. In 2020, Bungie also revealed that there were several incubation teams working on multiple projects for three years at that point- read more on that through here.
Oh, I almost forgot—my news: I’ve joined @Bungie as Senior Narrative Lead on an unannounced project! So happy to be rejoining beloved old friends/collaborators (@pinotorious, @goodpathfinding, @BobSugar, @julianardin, @ClayKisko, + many more) & meeting marvelous new ones. 😀 pic.twitter.com/XryEyE3j3N
