Bungie’s upcoming online shooter Destiny is in the news for various reasons but the most surprising revelation might be that the game would allow players to control the Firefly-class ship Serenity from Joss Whedon’s cult classic TV series. Bungie tweeted an image of the ship out and said it’s “not available in beta”. What’s most unsurprising about this? That it won’t be available at all.

Before users take could this to mean that the ship would be playable in the final release, Bungie quickly tweeted, “And, no, we’re not equipping you with Serenity in Destiny. That’s world collision, even if it’s a sweet rhyme.”

Sorry, Browncoats but the war truly is over. Or at least won’t be fought in the hallowed halls of Destiny.

Thoughts on this whole misunderstanding? Let us know below. Destiny will be out on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 9th worldwide with the beta resuming on July 23rd.
