Bungie’s Trademark For Eververse Could Mean Big Things For Destiny

Could Eververse be bringing a trading house to Destiny?

While most people are looking towards the next expansion pack for Destiny, Bungie might have something else entirely up its sleeves. The company recently filed a patent for something calledEververse and it seems likely the filing has something to do with Destiny. Just what that something might be is still anybody’s guess but there are rumblings that it could be a kind of trading/auction house feature.

There are actually a couple of different patent filings, with the first being the usual stuff that companies are looking to have a chance to go after. This means toys, comics, etc, but it’s the filing for the Eververse Trading Co that has raised eyebrows. Bungie has long leaned on Destiny as being a collaborative gaming experience, even if you aren’t playing with your best friends. This was built in on the ground level with the ability to salute other players if you ran into them at a number of different places within the game.

At the same time, Bungie has never offered that much beyond being able to jump into or out of a mission with another Destiny player at whim. Something that would allow people to trade with each other would certainly be something worth talking about. Bungie hasn’t talked about this patent filing yet, but there is just a couple of weeks until the company will be in front of a massive number of games journalists. When E3 kicks off, it seems as though that event would be a very good time to explain exactly what Eververse actually is and whether or not it’s going to be bringing a rather impressive new feature to Destiny.
