New details on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for PC have been revealed on Twitter, courtesy of Treyarch’s Director of Development.
Addressing numerous questions, it was first confirmed that dedicated servers would be coming to the PC version. However, there’s a bit of a catch. “BlackOps3 PC will use 100% dedicated servers for all ranked matches. (Same as previous BlackOps PC titles.) This is how we do it.” It’s possible that normal, unranked matches feature a mix of dedicated and P2P servers but this is yet to be confirmed so take it as hearsay for now.
Also like previous Call of Duty games, “BlackOps3 will ship with an adjustable FOV slider.”
Furthermore, those worried about an FPS cap can relax. Treyarch is looking at not capping the frame rate for single-player or Zombies mode and the max frame rate will likely be 200 FPS. “I don’t like FPS caps on PC, unless necessary for balance or server performance in ranked matches…
“BlackOps2 = uncapped in SP/ZM, max 200 in MP. It’s too early to say what we can do in BlackOps3, but that’s my thinking on the topic,” was the conclusion.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be out on November 6th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Stay tuned for more information on the game in the coming months.
