Online status currently stands at Defcon 4 rather than the usual Defcon 5.

In the midst of a massive, post-New Year’s hackathon by anonymous groups that affected Battle.net, League of Legends, Origin and Steam, it’s somewhat interesting to note that Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer proceeded somewhat normally. Until now though, and even though the game isn’t necessarily breaking down and outright restricting players from online play, there still seem to be some problems.

If you check the online status tracker, you’ll see “Defcon 4” rather than “Defcon 5”. Defcon 5 usually means everything is all hunky dory and nothing’s wrong. So while Defcon 4 indicates that all online services are working as normal, you may still face some “brief interruptions” due to “service maintenance or issues at external service providers.”

Some users have reported not being able to access a game for several minutes but for the most paart, this seems to be a routine maintenance check for Ghosts. Have you been facing any problems with online play? Let us know in the comments below.
