Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is launching in October, and as is customary for the series, it will offer players the chance to try out its multiplayer component prior to launch. A recent leak had suggested that that beta would arrive in August, but it seems those dates might have been a month off. As per a new report written insider Ralph Valve on What If Gaming, Modern Warfare 2’s beta is actually set for September.
Its dates allegedly cover a couple of weeks in mid-to-late September, with PlayStation players getting early access as they always do. Allegedly, starting September 15, pre-order holders will get early access to the game’s beta on PS5 and PS4, while everyone else on PlayStation will get access on September 17.
Meanwhile, starting September 22, those with pre-orders for the game on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC can hop into the beta. Finally, starting September 24 and up until September 26, everyone on all platforms will have access to the beta.
According to Ralph Valve, August is the month that Activision has apparently reserved for multiplayer reveals and events, including details and gameplay looks at the game’s “more traditional game modes, new systems of play, and a few surprises.” Whether that includes the frequently-leaked DMZ mode remains to be seen.
Recently, plenty of details on Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer component, including its maps and weapons, were also leaked, as well as details relating to the series’ 2024 game, currently under development at Treyarch. Read more on that through here.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches on October 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
