Despite Microsoft’s silence on Fable since the trailer from last year, speculation on its release date has been going around quite a bit. However, a new rumour that indicates that Fable will no longer be an Xbox exclusive.
According to a report by Vandal, Fable is currently being developed for release on the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, alongside its planned PC and Xbox Series X/S versions. While a release date has yet to be decided, development for other platforms has reportedly progressed far enough for a day one launch.
As with all such rumours, it is best to take this one with a grain of salt. Vandal has, in the past, reliably reported on the Switch 2 before the console’s announcement, including the fact that it would feature magnetically-connected JoyCons.
Rumours from last year have indicated that Fable is slated for launch in Q4 of 2025. This puts the game’s potential release window somewhere between October and December.
Ostensibly a reboot of the classic Xbox and Xbox 360 RPG series, Fable is being developed by Playground Games. It’s an action RPG and will feature comedic takes on classic myths and folklore, as its predecessors are famous for.
