We’re getting close to the biggest shooter franchise’s (and arguably the biggest overall gaming franchise) annual release with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The multiplayer is all the focus right now, and we got a pretty good look at the whole thing earlier. Now, we’ve got some confirmation on some fun aspects of the multiplayer that many should enjoy.
Via Reddit, Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot confirmed that the game will continue having offline bots. So if you haven’t joined on the online side of things and play through LAN or solo, you won’t be totally shut out from the multiplayer scene. It may not be the same thing, but it’s an incredible simulation.
He also went on to confirm that custom games will be making a return. When asked if maps in 2v2 Gunfight mode will allow for 3v3 in custom matches, he said they would, and then said the same to 1v1 bouts, humorously saying that’s how they settled things in the office (or was he being serious? We may never know). Considering the amount of potential DLC the game is getting, it could go a very long way, too.
Finally, speaking of maps, he also dropped the tidbit that the “Realism” mode, which turns off the HUD and crosshairs, will be a modifier, along with night mode, for all maps. It’s not something restricted to just night mode, though you can combine the two for some real tense firefights when the game drops on October 25th.
