We’ve had rumors abound regarding a remaster for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (arguably representing the zenith of popularity for the franchise) for well over a year now—after all, Modern Warfare itself was remastered alongside Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, so can’t the same happen for its follow up?
Well, it seems like it might be happening after all, and that, as rumors suggested all along, it will be just the campaign, and not the multiplayer (the part that was actually popular, holy crap Activision what in the world is this). In Europe, PEGI, the ratings board for video games, has rated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. The interesting thing here is that the rating is exclusively for the campaign, of course, as the listing’s name suggests.
Whether this means that the multiplayer will be sold separately, or that, for some perverse reason, there is no multiplayer, remains to be seen. I guess we’ll get an official announcement of this happening soon either way. Meanwhile, the first Modern Warfare Remastered is available for free for PS Plus subscribers in March.
