Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate launched on the 3DS last year, and it was a fairly good game. It then went on to launch on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 digitally, but it never launched on PC, which too has access to the Lords of Shadow trilogy that ended with the just released Lords of Shadow 2. Now, it is finally being made available for Steam.
The game acts as an interquel/prequel for the series, with the main story taking place 25 years after the events of the original Lords of Shadow and leading directly into the concluding events in Lords of Shadow 2. The title tells the story of some of Gabriel Belmont’s descendants, including Simon and Trevor Belmont, as they battle their own destiny only to discover their true, shocking fate. Trevor Belmont, a knight of the Brotherhood of Light, sets out to avenge his mother’s death at the hands of his father, who has returned from years of exile to take up residence in a mysterious castle.
The game sees players take on the role of multiple, differently playing characters, as the true destiny of the Belmont clan is revealed.
The game has launched on Steam today. Be sure to check it out, but also make sure you don’t go in expecting classic Castlevania- it isn’t. What it is is a fairly competent 2D action game.
