Castlevania: Mirror of Fate Trailer Bridges the Gaps in Lords of Shadow Saga

Follow the trials of the Belmonts and Alucard as they work to vanquish Dracula.

If Castlevania: Lords of Shadow did one thing right, it was to show that a 3D Castlevania title could work. Furthermore, that they could provide context to the entire origin of Dracula and make it compelling enough to follow. Mirror of Fate, the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title developed by MercurySteam, will bridge the gap between Lords of Shadow 1 and 2, as players take control of four different characters to rid the world of Dracula.

The perspective looks to resemble Kojima’s title, but overall gameplay embodies full 3D graphics while still remaining a side-scroller (making it a 2.5D game). You’ll be able to play as Trevor Belmont, Simon Belmont, Alucard and the eventual Dracula himself, Gabriel Belmont through different times in the game, which is being billed as a 20 hour adventure. The control scheme appears similar previous DS Castlevania titles, relegating the touchscreen to mostly item management and some key touch moments. Mirror of Fate is due to release in early 2013.
