CD Projekt RED had recently confirmed that their upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 will be played in first-person. There was some backlash against this, as some players felt disappointed that they would not be able to see the character they had created during gameplay. In an interview with Geoff Keighley the developers explained the reasoning behind having a first-person camera, and also addressed the concerns of fans.

The developers state that players will be able to see their character during cutscenes, and a third-person camera will also be used when driving a vehicle. The developer also responded to players’ concern regarding the first-person camera used in the game. The developer stated, “First-person absolutely makes sense for us, because our company has always been about creating high quality role-playing games, and only by using first-person for this game, we’ve been truly able to achieve a very immersive experience.”

They also stated that the first-person mode allows for a greater degree of immersion and allows players to get close to the action. Players will also be able to view what their character looks like at any time by using the inventory panel.

Overall, it sounds like this was the right decision for the game. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
