Celeste

Matt Makes Games’ award-winning platformer Celeste is coming to Google Stadia. A new trailer has announced the same, though there’s no release date for it yet. Considering the relative paucity of platformers on Stadia, Celeste is an excellent addition to the line-up. See it in action below.

Unlike TowerFall, the developer’s previous release which focused more on multiplayer, Celeste is a single-player affair. It sees Madeline venturing to Celeste Mountain to try and reach the top. There’s a lot going on in her life and the mountain manifests her inner fears en route to the summit. Along the way, she’ll encounter other characters, from the photographer Theo to the ghostly hotel owner Mr. Oshiro.

Renowned for its art-style, difficulty and brilliant gameplay, Celeste sold 500,000 copies in 2018. It’s currently available for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. You can check out our review for it here. After launch, the development team added a chunky free DLC chapter called “Farewell” which contains over 100 levels and more story content.
