Developer Colossal Order and publisher Paradox Interactive have released a new trailer for upcoming city builder Cities: Skylines 2, this time around focusing on the game’s water, sewage, and electricity system. Check out the trailer below.

Alongside the trailer, the studio has also published a blog post going into the details of some of the new options players will have access to in Cities: Skylines 2 when it comes to managing water and electricity.

Electricity in Cities: Skylines 2 is divided into two distinct types: low voltage and high voltage. Low voltage current is typically transmitted through road networks which have cables built in. High voltage current will need power lines to carry them to transformer buildings, where they can then be converted to low voltage for general use.

Players will also be able to place new emergency battery stations in order to store electricity in case demand spikes when the weather changes and citizens decide to pump up their thermostats. Players will be able to generate power in a number of ways, including gas power plants, coal power plants, and wind turbines, among other options.

Water management in Cities: Skylines 2 will be familiar to players of the first game. Players will have to manage the water demands of their citizens, while also dealing with sewage generated by all buildings. Players will also have to take care and make sure that their water source doesn’t get contaminated.

A new method of acquiring usable water is through the use of groundwater pumping stations, which can make use of groundwater—a resource that can be depleted and then gradually renews over time. Players will have to take care, however, since groundwater can get contaminated, causing water issues in the city.

Cities: Skylines 2 is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 24. For more details, check out the previous trailer showing off the game’s new take on city services.
