Gears of War mastermind Cliff Bleszinski may have moved away from the development studio of Epic Games, but his heart still remains with shooters evidently, as he’s said that as a game developer he will probably always only make shooters.
“As a developer myself, I will probably always make shooters,” Bleszinski told Gamasutra. “It’s in my DNA.”
Bleszinski, however, wants to make sure that his games changes the lives of those who plays it, and that he doesn’t just earn some money off his work and let that be his only achievement.
“Money is one thing,” he said. “It’s nice to get a nice dinner and not sweat it. But I want to get back to the point where I go to PAX, and a couple comes up to us and tells us that they met in a game that my team made. Cosplayers. Kids with tattoos. That sense of camaraderie with developers. That’s where I want to get back to.
“I don’t want Gears to be my defining legacy,” he continued. “At the end of the day, it’s known for being a fun, fantastic franchise. But I’d like to think there’s more to my creativity than that.”
Do you think Bleszinski will overdo what he did with the Gears trilogy? Tell us in your comments.
