Code Vein Gameplay Footage Looks Even More Souls-Esque

Wander the post-apocalyptic wasteland, battling demons to survive.

Bandai Namco’s Code Vein is a unique beast, taking several cues from the Dark Souls and Bloodborne franchises. The latest gameplay footage, courtesy of IGN First, seems to indicate an even closer resemblance than we thought but you can make up your own mind below. At the very least, the combat and visual design looks incredibly solid for a work-in-progress build.

Code Vein was announced earlier this year and takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where vampires are the only surviving beings. Some are satisfied with consuming blood while others descend into madness.

Regardless, the player will be exploring this world and seeking an escape. Developed using Unreal Engine 4, Code Vein allows players to travel with companions, coordinating attacks and using special moves to take down enemies.

In development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, Code Vein is slated to release in 2018. No further release date information has been provided.
