Remedy’s next game will be the time and mind bending Control, which looks to take the studio’s renowned and beloved brand of storytelling, and meld it with a far better realized form of the kind of reality manipulation that we saw in their 2016 game Quantum Break.
So far, the focus in the game’s marketing and showings has been on its gameplay, which looks to deliver tightly scripted set piece moments with some incredible reality bending action. However, the newest dev diary for the game, which you can see for yourself below, focuses on a couple of characters in the game— protagonist Jesse Faden, the new director of the Federal Bureau of Control, and Zachariah Trench, the previous director. The dev diary focuses on the two characters, and how Remedy fleshes them out to differentiate them from one another, and juxtaposes those differences to set up the story.
Remedy’s games have always had great characters, and Control looks like it will be no different on that front. It is due out for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. If you want to see more of it in action, make sure to watch the new gameplay video for it that shows off a boss battle.
