Crysis 2 faced ‘creative constraints’

Posted By | On 18th, Feb. 2010

Nathan Camarillo, Crytek’s executive producer, admits that Crysis 2 is a more focused gameplay experience thanks to the challenges put in front of the developer by consoles.

Answering to the question whether consoles in any way limited the production of the game Camarillo said, “I wouldn’t exactly call this generation of consoles ‘limited’. However, the challenges have allowed us to avoid over-designing features, to keep the focus narrower and tight for a compelling experience on all platforms.” Rather he believes these challenges helped developers because “in the end this will make for the best experience for the gamer”. He further added, “I think the freedom of Crysis 2 will surprise console gamers. Crysis  is not about ‘go anywhere’. It’s about looking at a situation from a great vantage point and then formulating a plan that you proactively initiate to defeat your foes.”

Crysis 2 ships to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Crysis 2 right here.
