Namco Bandai has released a new trailer for the much anticipated Dark Souls II. The trailer features several cutaway shots of armor and weapons being forged, acting as a metaphor for the forging of your own character.
Dark Souls II is a sequel to Dark Souls, which was the “spiritual successor” Demon’s Souls, the first in this unique series of dungeon crawlers. Hidetaka Miyazuke, who was the director of both Dark Souls and Demon’s souls, has announced that he will not be returning to direct Dark Souls II. He will instead take on a supervisory role, and pass the director’s chair on to Tomohiro Shibua and Yui Tanimura. According to Mizayaki, there will not be a direct connection between Dark Souls and Dark Souls II.
What little has been revealed of the game’s story seems to be as simple as it gets: A character suffering from a terrible curse who is on a quest to cure himself of the agony. The game play mechanic of Dark Souls II will be much the same as in Dark Souls, with co-director Tomohiro Shibuaya taking on a “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” attitude.
Dark Souls II is set to release for Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360 in March of 2014.
