Death Stranding Possibly References ‘Pyscho Mantis’ From The Metal Gear Solid Series

A nod to a fan favorite.

If there is one thing Hideo Kojima likes more than anything else, it’s peppering his games with cryptic references and easter eggs to other media- and sometimes his own. And it seems like Death Stranding might not be any different in that regard. In fact, based on what certain fans on Twitter are saying, it looks like Kojima managed to slip in a reference to Psycho Mantis from the original Metal Gear Solid (and also The Phantom Pain) in there.

Psycho Mantis was one of the mot popular bosses of Metal Gear Solid, due to his fourth wall breaking, meta shenanigans, so it makes sense that Kojima would want to pay homage to him- and if this is true, then it’s a very subtle nod to one of the characters who helped him achieve his first breakout hit.

Death Stranding is due to launch on the PlayStation 4, followed by a release on PC later, at some point. As of right now, we don’t have a concrete release date.
