Destiny 2 HDR Support Announced For PS4

No word yet on HDR support for Xbox or PC.

The PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X are pushing a gamut of technologies- but arguably the most exciting of those is not virtual reality, not 4K gaming, but HDR. HDR, short for High Dynamic Range, essentially allows for a far broader palette of colors in an image- leading to far more gains in image quality than a simple resolution bump can net.

And now, Bungie has confirmed that what will possibly be the biggest game of the year, Destiny 2, will be supporting HDR on the PS4 shortly after launch- rejoice, PlayStation owners, because this means you can all enjoy higher quality image while playing the game- as long as you have an HDR enabled TV, that is.

The question of whether or not HDR support will be present on the Xbox One S and the Xbox One X remains unanswered- and likely will be until after launch, owing to the fact that Activision and Bungie’s deal with PlayStation leads them to being unable to talk about other systems. Hopefully, however, both those systems include HDR support too. We’ll find out soon.
