Destiny 2 On PS4 Pro Is Displayed In 2160p Via Checkerboard Rendering

Of course, this is only the beta code, so maybe the final game runs differently?

Destiny 2 is releasing later this year, and it will also be enhanced for the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X- but specifically for the PS4 Pro, which is a weaker machine than the Xbox One X, how might it perform? Will it manage to run in full 4K? Or will there be shortcuts and compromises necessary?

According to a tech analysis run by Digital FoundryDestiny 2 runs on PS4 Pro in 2160p, which is achieved via Checkerboard Rendering, Sony’s upscaling technique that it uses to achieve the illusion of higher resolutions. Keep in mind, however, that this test was run on the beta code of Destiny 2– while the possibility is slim, there is one that things change closer to the final game’s release.

Owing to the fact that the Xbox One X is not yet out, it was also impossible for Digital Foundry to verify how the game runs on Microsoft’s supercharged system. We’ll have to wait for the game, and for the system itself, to release to know that, I suppose.
