After a heavily criticized initial launch, Destiny’s Iron Banner live event has returned and brought forth new gear, bounties and shaders for players who take part. The Iron Banner event allows players’ gear and levels to actually make a difference rather than evening out things like in the normal Crucible.

However, this time around, the difference in levels and gear will be much more pronounced. Bungie has also promised rewards even if you don’t win a match, which are essentially bonuses that stack up and deliver more reputation and marks when you win next.

The bounties this time around include:

  • Anvil of Light – Kill 50 guardians with IB emblem, shader and class item equipped
  • Iron Embrace – 20 melee kills
  • Rise Above – Finish with the highest score
  • Exacting Measures – 15 headshot sprees
  • Chaos and the Calm – 30 machine gun headshot kills
  • Heavy Metal – 15 machine gun sprees

Gear includes Iron Regalia Great Helm, Iron Regalia Greaves, Jolder’s Iron Sash and Felwinter’s Lie. Those interested in shaders and sigils will be able to pick up the Million Million, Gold Spiral, Sigil of the Iron Lords and Sigil of the Radegast.

Update: According to various posts on Reddit’s Destiny sub-reddit, this is in fact NOT the new Iron Banner event. Confused? So are we but it seems that this event went live by accident without many of the promised changes implemented. Stay tuned for more information on the same.
