Destiny has struck the gaming community with the strength of a forge hammer and split players down the middle. You either love it or hate it apparently. So one week after the games official launch, it has racked up a considerable player-base across both platforms, but it’s also gone on to become the most viewed game on the Twitch streaming service in 2014.
Matthew DiPietro, VP of Marketing with Twitch said, “To date, Destiny is the biggest console game launch of the year on Twitch,”… “Our passionate community of broadcasters attracted more than 5 million unique viewers in the first week.”
In this first week alone, players and viewers alike tuned into twitch streams nearly 20,000,000 times, collectively watching almost 240,000,000 minutes of gameplay.
Community Manager at Bungie, David Dague has said, “Our community has always blown us away with their desire to share, entertain, and inspire. Watching them broadcast their Destiny experiences on Twitch – from the Tower to the Crucible to the Vault of Glass Raid – has been nothing short of amazing. We’re humbled by the enthusiasm and we hope our community knows we’re watching and laughing and applauding back home at the studio.”
