Destiny Players Receiving Free Strange Coins and Motes of Light in January

Oh joy.

Destiny The Taken King

Good news, Destiny players – Bungie hasn’t completely forgotten about you in their festive spirit. Community manager David “DeeJ” Dague revealed in the Weekly Update that all players would be receiving 15 Strange Coins and 15 Motes of Light on January 7th. Yes, we know that’s not on the Christmas but it’s Bungie.

At the very least this seems to be better than last year’s free Legendary weapon since you can actually choose what to buy when Xur comes around. Then again, you need 18 to 23 Strange Coins to buy a weapon so you’ll have to satisfy yourself with gear. And…hope that you don’t already own that gear.

Anyway, if you play Destiny from January 7th to January 10th, you’ll also be eligible to receive an unknown Emblem on January 12th. So there’s that.

What are your thoughts on these so-called gifts for Destiny players? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more updates since Iron Banner is set to go live next week.
