Destiny Rise of Iron

New details for Destiny: Rise of Iron was revealed during today’s live-stream and while there’s still more information to come, at least some of the most important parts were worked out.

As it turns out, the Iron Gjallarhorn isn’t the Year Two version of Gjallarhorn. You can pick up a Year Two version by completing a quest which involving forging it from the armour of lost heroes. The Iron Gjallarhorn appears to be a black and silver version of this, so essentially a cool-looking skin for those who pre-order.

Old Russia and The Wall have undergone some significant changes with Rise of Iron and there will be new patrols, new public events and so on. There will be a new Strike and some old ones updated for the expansion. Crucible will also be receiving some new maps and a new mode though the “new features” weren’t defined.

It was also noted that the new social space – Felwinter Peak – would have to be taken back from the enemy first before occupying it. Players will learn more about the Iron Lords (including Jolder, who is a woman as it so happens) here and pay homage to the heroes (not confirmed how that will happen).

The technological plague is called Seeva (spelling unconfirmed) and there are hints that it could be a rogue warmind intent on harm. The Fallen have augmented themselves with Golden Age technology and are working with/under Seeva to take over Earth.

Light Level is being increased by a “significant” amount and the new Relic is the flaming axe that Saladin is wielding. It will pop up in the world but it’s also likely to play a part in the raid.

Rise of Iron is out on September 20th for Xbox One and PS4 with more information to come at E3 2016.
