Everyone's beloved (and loathed) Exotic vendor will act a bit differently.

Destiny

With the release of Destiny’ The Taken King and the start of Year Two, Bungie has announced several changes to Exotic vendor Xur, who has been a source of Exotic gear and weapons since the very release of the game. According to senior design lead Tyson Green, Xur will now carry a “specific specific Exotic Weapon or an Exotic Engram for sale every week” to encourage players to receive rewards from Quests and to avoid repetition.

Xur will also carry the Three of Coins which has a chance to drop Exotic Engrams from Ultra bosses that you kill, with your luck for a drop increasing with each consumable. There will also be a Legacy Engram that can be purchased from Xur which delivers Year One Exotics to help players fill any missing spaces they have in their collections. Necrochasm and Vex Mythoclast are unfortunately not included.

Of course, community manager Cozmo chimed in later on Bungie.net to state that, “Exotics that previously only dropped in POE can drop from Legacy Engrams” and that “Xûr will continue to sell one piece of Exotic armor per class.” However, he also said that this information is no promise for what happens today so there you go.

We’ll wait till Xur lands in the Tower and find out for ourselves so stay tuned.
