With Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy now a couple of years old, it’s no surprise that many are beginning to wonder what developer Eidos Montreal is working on next. While concrete details on the studio’s next project remain scant (at least in an official capacity), an interesting new tidbit may have come to light thanks to a recent job listing.

Spotted by Tech4gamers, Eidos Montreal recently published a job ad for the role of senior game designer, which, interestingly enough, mentions “experience with co-op games” under the “nice to haves” section. Elsewhere in the listing, mechanics such as “leveling up, skill acquisition, crafting, and upgrading” are mentioned, suggesting that the project in question could be an RPG. The game will also apparently be built on Unreal Engine 5.

As per reports that emerged last year, Eidos Montreal has a number of projects in the works. The developer is allegedly working on a new IP, while a new Deus Ex title is also said to be in very early development. Interestingly, the studio is also allegedly providing development support for Playground Games and Microsoft’s Fable, similar to Crystal Dynamics with Perfect Dark.

Which of those projects the aforementioned job ad is referring to remains to be seen. While the inclusion of co-op would suggest that it’s a new IP, it’s also possible that the next Deus Ex will have a co-op element, especially in light of the job ad mentioning various RPG systems. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
