No one asked for something like this! At this point, game updates and patches are actually bigger than entire games used to be on the previous generation of consoles (or than they still are on the Wii U, at least).
Take the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, for example- it appears as though its day one patch is going to be almost 4GB in size, according to PlayStation Lifestyle. Worse still, based on the patch notes, it’s not even clear why this update is as big as it does:
- General bug fixing
- Functionality and localization improvements
- General stability tweaks
- Breach latest implementations
So yeah, that’s… crazy, and quite frankly, going by the patch notes, unwarranted too. But hey, maybe there is more to the improvements the patch brings than is clear just by those notes. We’ll see how it goes. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launches on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 23.
