The Devil May Cry series is back. After several years of dormancy, action game fans are feasting with the styling return of Devil May Cry 5. The game showcased the new RE Engine at the same time as reviving the father of the action genre. It also came to Nintendo systems for the first time in a much more muted way, and that continues as this month we will see the release of Devil May Cry 2.
Earlier in the year Capcom made the rather bizarre discussion to release the first game, Devil May Cry, from the HD Collection that collects the first three games as opposed to the full collection itself. At the time, it was said there was no plans for either 2 or 3 on the Switch, but apparently that’s changed as the second game was announced today as part of Nintendo’s Direct.
Devil May Cry 2 is an infamous entry in the series for the wrong reason. Due to a troubled development, the game was a massive disappointment when it did release, and has largely been ignored by the other titles. It’s main contribution to the series is a slick look for Dante and the introduction of the Bloody Palace mode that became a staple.
Not entirely sure who wants to buy this thing by itself, but if you’re curious enough, Devil May Cry 2 launches for the Switch on September 19th.
