Diablo 3 console builds up and running but no plans to release – Blizzard

Well then, what's the point?

Diablo 3 console ports have been rumoured for a long time and at one point Blizzard even acknowledged it. However, a recent development suggests that the game is actually running on consoles internally at Blizzard, but they have no plans for release yet or want to reveal more information on it.

“We’ve got builds up and running on it. We’re hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we’re not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it’s looking pretty cool,” Blizzard excutive Rob Pardo told Polygon.

“The whole team is essentially working on the next big Diablo thing, a lot of that stuff will show up next year at some point,” added Jay Wilson, lead designer of the game.

While such a thing is not surprising it seems like people have lost interest in the game. Does anyone even play Diablo 3, anymore?

I am sure plenty of them do but releasing the console versions earlier would have been more successful. The game managed to sell 10 million copies.
