Diablo 3: New Playstation 3 Screenshots Debut

One of the odder announcements at Sony’s Playstation 4 reveal was that of Activision Blizzard bringing action RPG blockbuster Diablo 3 to consoles, specifically to PS3 and PS4. While the Playstation 4 version has yet to be revealed, they have released some new screenshots of the PS3 version which can be viewed below.

Diablo 3 is one of the more well-known PC action RPGs, for both good and bad reasons. Given that it enforces an always-on DRM system, even if you’re in the single-player game (and which you can’t play if the server is down), it will be interesting to see how it works alongside Sony’s claims of being able to play the PS4 offline.

Regardless, Diablo 3 looks like a decent fit for consoles. The question arises as to whether there is enough interest in the franchise from the fanbase which has always been concentrated on the PC. Given Blizzard’s absence from the console development scene, will it be a grand return or an underwhelming cash-in? We’ll find out when it releases.
