The last few days have seen Redfall courting controversy owing to it not running at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X/S at launch, but thankfully, that’s not going to be the norm for all major upcoming releases. One of the biggest ones in particular – Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 4 – has, in fact, been confirmed to be running at 60 FPS on Microsoft’s current-gen machines.
Speaking recently on Major Nelson’s Xbox podcast (via Pure Xbox), Blizzard Entertainment’s Rod Fergusson, who’s Diablo’s general manager, confirmed that Diablo 4 will run at 4K and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, and at 1080p and 60 FPS for Xbox Series S. Whether we can also expect additional graphics modes for different resolution and performance options remains to be seen.
Presumably, this means the game will run at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5 as well, though that’s yet to be officially confirmed, while there’s no word yet on how the game will run on last-gen consoles either.
Diablo 4 is due out on June 6 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Blizzard will be releasing new details on its endgame content and progression systems on April 20, so stay tuned.
