DmC Director: Dante isn’t modelled after me, “I didn’t design the character”

DmC director and co-founder of Ninja Theory, Tameem Antoniades is on the hot seat after taking over Capcom’s Devil May Cry, and one of the main issues people had was that Dante’s design resembled him a lot. He has brushed off those concerns and said that he didn’t even design the character.

“What can I say? He’s a decade and a half younger than me, way better looking… The only thing he’s got is black hair. And he’s male,” he said.

“I didn’t design the character. I didn’t go to our designers and say, ‘I think it’s a really good idea if we make the new Dante look like me, because I want to be in the game.’ They’d laugh at me. They’d throw me out the window,” he revealed in an interview with PSM3 via CVG.

The game will also be less Japanese styled and more appealing to the US and EU. Well, duh, that’s why Capcom gave them the project to an UK studio like Ninja Theory in the first place.
