Donkey Kong Bananza

With the Nintendo Switch 2 available worldwide and a massive success for the company, it’s doubtless looking forward to its next major release. That would be Donkey Kong Bananza, which will receive a dedicated Nintendo Direct on June 18th at 6 AM PT.

Nintendo of America’s tweet confirms “roughly” 15 minutes of new information, which should include fresh gameplay. Plenty of gameplay debuted last April as part of Treehouse Live, showcasing Donkey Kong’s predicament (and new design) along with the gameplay loop. Think Super Mario Odyssey but with the ability to break through terrain.

Donkey Kong’s abilities go even further, as he can rip out and toss terrain at enemies or Turf Surf, effectively using it as a surfboard. The story involves retrieving the Banadium Gems from a new villainous group, burrowing deeper and deeper through Ingot Isle. Perhaps we’ll learn more about the antagonists (and maybe see what role Pauline plays).

Donkey Kong Bananza launches on July 17th on Nintendo Switch 2 for $69.99.
