Donkey Kong Bananza

Nintendo’s Donkey Kong Bananza is out now on the Switch 2. Retailing for $69.99, it’s a new 3D platformer starring Donkey Kong, who discovers Ingot Isle and becomes swept up in a grand adventure that involves venturing to its depths. Check out the launch trailer below.

He’s joined by a strange creature called Odd Rock, later revealed to be a younger Pauline. Harnessing her singing grants Donkey Kong new Bananza Powers, transforming him into a stronger gorilla, a speedy zebra and an ostrich that flies. Other transformations await as you delve deeper towards the core.

The gameplay loop should be very familiar to Super Mario Odyssey fans, which isn’t surprising considering it’s from the same team. Nevertheless, Donkey Kong Bananza has earned extensive praise from critics. On Metacritic, it’s currently the fourth-highest rated new release of the year with a 90 Metascore based on 84 critical reviews. Check out our feature for more details on what to expect.
