Dragon Ball Sparking ZERO

Bandai Namco has announced that Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO has sold over three million units worldwide within 24 hours of launch. The 3D arena fighter launched on October 11th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, crossing 122,000 peak concurrent players on Steam.

Bandai Namco president and CEO Nao Ugagawa said in a press release (translated via DeepL), “We believe that these results were achieved by having a wider range of fans play the game than ever before through marketing measures tailored to the characteristics of each region.

“This includes a road tour in North America and participation in game events in Europe, South America, and Asia in collaboration with the Group’s overseas offices, which are located in more than 30 countries and regions. We believe that these results are the result of our efforts to attract a wider range of fans than ever before.”

As the first new title in the Dragon Ball: Budokai Tenkaichi (known as Dragon Ball Z Sparking! in Japan), Sparking! ZERO features the largest roster yet, with 182 characters. It also introduces two new modes – Episode Battle, where players can experience the story from the perspective of eight characters, and Custom Battle, allowing one to create and share custom scenarios.

Check out our review of the game here – we gave it an eight out of ten. The Season Pass will add more characters from Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, including Gamma 1 and 2 and Dragon Ball DAIMA, so stay tuned for further updates.
