Dragon Ball is in the midst of a surge of popularity right now, and the franchise is probably more popular now than it’s ever been (which is saying a lot, since the series was massive in the late 90s and early 2000s as well). It can almost be hard to believe just how old the franchise is, though, and how we now have people well into their 30s and 40s who enjoyed the series in various forms, whether manga, anime, or video game, as kids. A new live action trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot plays on those nostalgic memories.

The live action trailer follows a businessman coming home from work. Unfortunately, it’s in Japanese and there’s currently no subtitles, but the gist is he waxes nostalgically about loving the series as a kid with his friends as he sees a new generation of young kids playing in the street. It has clips from the game interwoven into the story as well.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot definitely plays on the nostalgia bone, as the game will revisit iconic locations and characters from the entire Z saga that helped rocket the series to immense popularity. The game will launch at the beginning of the year, on January 17th.
